Thought for the week

The world is not like a picture

Painted by an artist centuries ago

Which now hangs untouchable in a museum.

It is more like a work of art

In constant process of creation…..Ernesto Cardenal.

Opening of the Jubilee of Mercy, 8th December 2015

Bishop Cunningham celebrated the Mass of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, marking the beginning of the Year of Mercy at St Mary's Cathedral. Forty priests concelebrated the Mass and the Cathedral was filled to overflowing with people from across the Diocese. Earlier that morning, Bishop Seamus reflected on the Year of Mercy and the central place the Sacrament of Reconciliation holds in its meaning. There was Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and priests heard confessions throughout the rest of the day.

Wishing you all a holy and happy Christmas

Fr. Leo Pyle

The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy

Opening the Door of Mercy

This Advent sees the opening of the Holy Year of Mercy.

Advent is a time to remember the great things God

has done for his people throughout the ages.

 It reminds us that,

although humanity often strayed from the path

God set before them,

God constantly called them back –

Showering upon them infinite mercy.

This culminated in the coming of Jesus –

the Christ – the Messiah – the Anointed One

who came into the world not to judge it but to save it.

Next Sunday 27th Dec. – The Holy Family of Jesus Mary & Joseph
